The online-only currency exchange firm evaluated hundreds of tweets from around the world to discover which airlines were most liked and hated. The business employed an artificial intelligence sentiment algorithm to scan up to 4,000 tweets that cited the airlines’ official Twitter accounts and assigned them a good or negative grade.
While Twitter does provide some insights into people’s experiences, utilizing it as a single source has significant drawbacks because most people choose to vent their frustrations rather than their good ones. According to Harvard University research, fury spreads faster on Twitter, but there is also a difference between what is unpleasant and unfavorable across various individuals.

The World’s Most Hated Airlines
According to the study, two of the world’s most despised airlines on Twitter are American.
Spirit Airlines is ranked eighth, followed by Frontier Airlines in the top ten, with Spirit receiving 62.2% of unfavorable tweets and Frontier receiving 61.9%.
Spirit has been described as the “American Ryanair,” with many consumers dissatisfied with its hidden extra fees and costs, which sometimes cost more than the flight itself.

Several of the Twitter reactions for both airlines concerned canceled flights and little compensation. One customer described how Spirit canceled a $230 flight, forcing him to pay a $700 replacement ticket.

Meanwhile, bad tweets about Frontier advise people not to fly it, no matter how cheap the tickets are, citing difficulties with horrible customer service and being unable to reach a human.

Among the two US airlines, the top ten most hated on Twitter include three Canadian carriers (WestJet, Flair Airlines, and Air Transat), two Indian airlines (Go First and SpiceJet), and one each from Portugal (TAP Air Portugal), Australia (Jetstar Airways), and Spain (Vueling).
When comparing North American-only airlines, three Canadian carriers (WestJet, Flair Airlines, and Air Transat) are the most despised, followed by Spirit, Frontier, and American.
Volaris, the only airline from Mexico to make the list, is ranked tenth owing to difficulties in obtaining compensation for canceled flights.
The World’s Most Popular Airlines
No US airlines made the top ten list, as Canada takes the lead for most liked, with three airlines appearing in the top four, including regional Bearskin Airlines, which ranked first with a favorable tweet score of 53.4%. Tweeters praised the service to inaccessible locations as well as the picturesque sights along the routes.
Pacific Coastal Airlines, ranked second, and Canadian North, ranked fourth, are the other Canadian carriers in the top four. Alaska Airlines was the only American airline in the top ten most-liked on Twitter among North American airlines, with a 34% favorable tweet rate.
